Mawingu Networks, a prominent rural Internet Service Provider (ISP), has expanded its network to Mandera County, Kenya.

The expansion increases the total number of counties connected to Mawingu’s services to 30, underscoring the company’s commitment to providing reliable and affordable internet access to underserved communities across the nation.

In a progress update released for the second half of 2024, Mawingu’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Farouk Ramji, highlighted the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity in rural areas.

“Mawingu marks yet another milestone towards our long-term vision of making meaningful connectivity accessible to more Kenyans at very competitive price points, comparative to other service providers, by building sustainable, flexible infrastructure in underserved regions,” he stated.

Alongside the Mandera expansion, the company has made substantial investments in Garissa County, enhancing its network coverage.

Mawingu plans to lay over 30 kilometres of fibre infrastructure in Garissa, aiming to significantly improve the quality and reliability of its internet services in the region.

“Our progressive expansion into more counties across Kenya, with a focus on providing meaningful internet to these unserved and underserved areas, has been largely informed by key learnings and strategic insights,” Mr. Ramji added.

Mawingu is dedicated to meeting the connectivity needs of its customers and is actively pursuing its mid-term growth strategy, which includes extending internet access to additional counties throughout the country.

“We remain committed to going the extra mile to truly meet our customers at their connectivity point of need,” he concluded.

With these advancements, Mawingu continues to play a vital role in bridging the digital divide in Kenya and ensuring that more residents gain access to essential online services.
